LAMDA Exam Drama Classes at OD Theatre School
Lamda exam drama classes are held At Emerson Park Academy Hornchurch and are optional for OD Theatre School students and can also be attended by non-theatre school attendees. We hold small group sessions and limit the amount of students within the class to ensure each student is offered enough attention, guidance and training towards their exam, to maintain our 100% pass rate, with all our results to date Merits and Distinctions.
What is Lamda? Lamda is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding bodies, offering practical examinations and performance subjects for over 130 years. Lamda qualifications have helped hundreds of thousands of candidates of all ages and abilities to develop life long skills.
Lamda Exam Drama classes offered:
Performance Acting – designed to develop the skills necessary to communicate dramatic text to an audience.
- explore style, form, character, subtext and context in order to realise the specific demands of the text
- engage with character and situation in order to create a sense of reality.
- discover skills in voice, diction and movement.
- understand the chosen selections
- explore the key principles and influences in the process of acting for various practitioners.
Devised Acting -designed to develop the skills necessary to devise a dramatic performance and present it to an audience.
- devise a character and situation within a dramatic structure
- engage with character and situation in order to create a sense of reality.
- develop skills in voice, diction and movement.
- know and understand how to devise scenes for performance.
Public Speaking – designed to develop the skills necessary for effective oral communication and public presentation.
- select, structure and shape a subject matter into a coherent and concise speech
- adapt language and form to audience, purpose and situation where appropriate.
- build skills in vocal projection and clarity of speech
- match tonal register to audience, purpose and situation where appropriate
- integrate body language, notes and visual aids where appropriate, to support the subject matter and engage the listener.
- have a knowledge and understanding of the techniques required for speaking in public.
Verse and Prose – designed to develop the skills necessary for effective oral communication of the written word.
- engage imaginatively with the thought, emotion, style and form of a text.
- develop skills in voice, diction and posture.
- know and understand the chosen selections
- understand voice, speech and versification theory to communicate the specific demands of the text.
Mime – designed to develop the skills necessary to create a performance using mime.
- communicate an activity, situation and/or character through mime
- engage with an activity, situation and/or character in order to create a sense of reality.
- develop skills in physical awareness, control, precision and coordination.
- understand how to create and structure mimes and mime scenes for performance
- explore the influences on the development and presentation of mime for one of the following various practitioners.
There are numerous Lamda grades and levels to take for all levels and abilities
