Wedding Dance Lessons

Wedding Dance Lessons with Occasional Dance was established in 2009 after discovering many couples live in fear of their ‘First Wedding Dance’ and decided to offer our expertise.  We offer lessons to couple/groups all over Essex.

Your wedding dance is a special part of your wedding and a very memorable moment of your day.  Wedding dance lessons are a lot of fun during the preparation for your day and something you can both enjoy together.

Occasional Dance covers London and Essex.

  • You choose the song, we create the dance
  • Fun, stress free one-on-one lessons

How Our Wedding Dance Lessons Work

One to one Lessons

We offer one to one tuition with our professionally trained dancers/teachers, all of which have a wealth of experience and come armed with patience, giving you the confidence you need to dance without fear, helping you to enjoy your first dance rather than dread.

Song Choice

You choose your special song, we create and organise the rest.

If you struggle with choosing a song, we have a whole list of songs we can suggest.

Where and when do lessons take place?

Your dance lessons take place in the comfort of your own home, with flexible lesson times to suit your work or social commitments, or if you prefer a hired venue this can be arranged for you (at the venue hire costs).

Lessons can take place daytimes, evenings, or weekends.

How many lessons will we need?

We do advise 5 hours to complete your routine, obviously you can have more than this but this is what we suggest to learn your dance comfortably.

The amount of lessons you may need can depend on tempo and length of song also time avaliable on the lead up to the wedding and budget.

If you let us know how much time you have to spare for classes and budget, we can adjust your routine to suit.

Lessons can be split into 1-hour sessions, 90 min session or 2-hour sessions, the choice is yours.

If you don’t want a full routine and maybe just some time to learn a few simple steps for confidence we recommend 1 or 2 hours for this.

The amount of lessons you have is your choice, we can arrange everything to suit the time you have available and budget, there are always options and alternatives.

I’ve never danced before

Do not worry,  most couples haven’t and by the end you will have a routine that you never thought was possible. We work slowly through the steps making sure you are comfortable and confident, tailoring everything to suit you and any requests you have.

By splitting the lessons up over a period of weeks you can learn little and often, rather than being bombarded and confused with too much information in one go.

All dances are choreographed with the brides dress in mind and any suggestions or requests you have.

When should we start the lessons?

In an ideal world we advise starting around 6-8 weeks before your wedding, this way you can learn over a period of time while you are feeling semi relaxed, finishing your routine with a few weeks to spare. This way you are not learning new steps just a few days before the big day and also you have time for extra practise if needed. Obviously, this time plan doesn’t always happen as wedding planning can take over your life and before you know it you haven’t started your lessons yet and you only have 3 weeks to go!!! Don’t worry there are always options and we will make sure your routine is still complete and that you know it inside out and back to front before the day.

What should we wear?

Comfortable, everyday clothes are fine.

What Our Clients Say

“Learning our dance was one of the nicest things Kieran and I have ever done, never mind one of the most pleasant parts of the build-up to the wedding. I’m glad he was seeing my dress beforehand because we did dress rehearsals and they were hilarious. Neither of us was nervous on the day thanks to you because the routine you taught us was based around the same movements. We could relax and express ourselves in the more dramatic moments. On the day everything went well and we could use our singer to sing the song for us. It felt like a really personal climax to our wedding day. We can’t thank you enough.”

“The dance went down really well, despite a few errors due to nerves but I think that added to the fun! We had a little practice on the day but my bustle on the dress broke, so I had to dance with the train in full flow, it wasn’t too bad though! Thanks again, best wishes for the future.”

“Just a quick email to let you know our dance went brilliantly – everybody loved it! Thanks a lot for your help and advice. If we can get a copy of on DVD to you we will.”

“We had a fab time last night – thank you! Suzanne our choreographer was fantastic and we love the routine. I promise to try and remember to send through footage or photos. I found you on google and wouldn’t hesitate to use you again, or recommend you to a friend. Promise to practice lots. Thanks again.”

“Just want to thank you Tina for choreographing and teaching us our wedding dance. Your kindness and patience was very much appreciated and we did it!!!! got the ahs, woos and laughter that we wanted. Anyone getting married, why not surprise your guests with a Wedding Dance to remember, if we could do it, then you can to, just call Tina, tell her your music and she will do the rest…….again thankyou……..”

“Well your dance went down a treat with our guests. They loved it and couldn’t believe it at the same time. Dave got a bit of banter that he was a bit too ‘wooden’ looking and I had to do more of the dancing, but it did exactly what we wanted, surprised everyone and got them laughing and dancing 🙂

Thanks again for all your hard work. ”
